A delegation from Uttam Sucrotech Consortium, a sugarcane production and value chain experts from Brazil and India have paid a visit to the Emir of Minna, Umar Faruk Bahago to intimate him about plans to cultivate 150,000 hectares Sugarcane and sugar production in NIGER STATE
The delegation which was led by Mr. Bharat Adlakhan informed the Emir, that the cultivation will be done through several out-grower schemes, creating thousands of jobs all over Niger State.
He also said the Company intends to bring in the best technology for the sugar plants, stressing that Niger State has the capacity to meet the Nigerian Sugar requirements and produce other products like ethanol, cattle feeds, required by the country.
The Emir of Minna, Umar Faruk Bahago appreciated the Consortium for it’s foresight in developing the sugarcane industry which will go a long way in improving the livelihoods of his subjects.
Niger State Government has sometime last year through the Niger Foods, in collaboration with the Nigeria Sugar Development Council of Nigeria secured a deal with Uttam Sucrotech, to develop 150,000 Hectares of Sugarcane fields and 6 Sugar mills in the State over the next 3 years.
