Niger Foods

The Federal Minister of Livestock Development, Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha, toured the Niger Foods facility at Tagwai, Niger State, during his early October 2026 working and condolence visit. During this strategic visit, the Niger Foods team demonstrated their innovative tech stack for the Livestock Identification Management and Traceability System (LIIMS) to the Minister, underscoring the state’s alignment with national livestock modernization goals.

Alhaji Idi Mukhtar Maiha also witnessed the signing of a comprehensive Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to establish a general cooperative framework. This agreement connects Niger Foods with critical local pastoralist networks and agricultural enterprises to modernize local animal husbandry into a commercialized, data-driven value chain.

The six strategic suppliers included in this landmark framework agreement are:

  1. Miyetti Allah Kautal Hore (Niger State Chapter)
  2. Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) (Niger State Chapter)
  3. Mogal Fulbe
  4. Gam Allah Fulbe
  5. BN Hassan Shiroro Enterprise
  6. Ismi Integrated Nigeria Limited

By integrating digital solutions like the LIIMS traceability module alongside grassroot pastoral groups, this collaboration transitions traditional herding into a highly productive food ecosystem. This milestone directly advances the Federal Ministry of Livestock Development’s mandate to secure food production, scale up red meat output, and integrate marginalized communities into the commercial economy.

The Minister highly commended Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago for his aggressive agricultural transformation agenda, citing Niger State as a leading template for private-public synergy in achieving sustainable national food security
