In a major step toward fulfilling the strategic agricultural agreement signed by the “Farmer Governor,” Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago with Sabiq Nigeria Ltd, a high-powered delegation from China’s agribusiness giant, Yihai Kerry Arawana Holdings Co., Ltd, (Parent company, Singapore-listed Wilmar International Limited, a Fortune Global 500 company) has arrived in Minna, Niger State.

The delegation is currently on-site to conduct a comprehensive land location assessment to initiate the large-scale commercial cultivation of organic sesame seeds.
This assessment marks a crucial milestone in the state’s multi-billion-naira agricultural industrialization drive. The partnership guarantees a massive, structured international off-take market for Niger State farmers, positioning the state as Nigeria’s leading hub for certified organic agricultural exports.

The partnership is designed to maximize Niger State’s vast arable land through structured, high-yield cultivation frameworks managed via Niger Foods. By securing a direct pipeline with Yihai Kerry Arawana—one of China’s largest food processing conglomerates—the state ensures that its local sesame output meets stringent global organic trade standards right from the soil-testing phase.

Speaking on the assessment visit, Niger Foods officials emphasized that Governor Bago’s administration remains fiercely committed to moving away from subsistence farming. Instead, the focus is on creating multi-national agricultural partnerships that yield direct, measurable economic wealth for the people of Niger State.

Field assessments are expected to conclude this week, laying the groundwork for immediate land preparation and the commencement of the planting cycle.
