In its continued efforts to ensure transparency, inclusiveness, and accountability, Niger Foods on Wednesday organized a stakeholders engagement with key stakeholders in the Minna Emirate to interact and interface with them on the proposed Minna Airport Special Agro Processing Free Zone.
The event, which took place at the palace of the Emir of Minna, had in attendance the Emir, HRH Dr. Umar Faruk Bahago; youth and farmer groups; district and village heads; members of the State Executive Council; security agencies; and Dar Group (the consultants for the proposed project).
The Chairman of Niger Foods, Mr. Sammy Adigun, while responding to some concerns of the communities where the project is to be located in Bosso LGA, stated that such communities stand to benefit in areas such as the construction of roads, schools, clinics, employment of youths by different companies, and the total resettlement of households whose homes may be affected by the projects.
Mr. Sammy further revealed that the primary purpose of the engagement with stakeholders in the area is to avoid acrimony, misunderstandings, and litigations that could hamper progress when the project commences.
He also assured that engagement will continue in phases.
HRH Dr. Umar Faruk Bahago, in his remarks, assured Niger Foods and the state government of his Emirate’s commitment to cooperate with and support such a viable project.
He called for the inclusion of the local communities in all pre-implementation, implementation, and post-implementation processes of the project.
The Emir commended the current administration of Governor Umaru Mohammed Bago for his foresight, vision, and determination to change the narrative of Niger State through agricultural mechanization and modern farming techniques.
