Governor Umaru Bago’s agricultural revolution in Niger State received another boost as JS Bioenergy Limited and Niger Foods signed a deal to develop a sugarcane farm in Niger State. The agreement is set to pave the way for the establishment of large-scale sugarcane cultivation, with a focus on ethanol production on 10,000 hectares of land.
The project is slated to kick off within the next six months, which will cover the construction of a sugar-growing estate, a sugar processing facility with a distillery, and a biomass facility capable of producing industrial ethanol for domestic and international markets.
JSB will provide the funds necessary to develop the project.
Sandy Eyal, the Commercial Director of JS Bioenergy Ltd, and Mr. Sammy Adigun, Chairman of Niger Foods, expressed optimism about the venture, highlighting its transformative impact on both the local economy and the renewable energy sector.
