Niger Foods

The site visited alongside the Lee Group (owners of GNAL Sugar) is indeed a prime jewel of Niger State’s agricultural transformation.
The location leading toward the River floodplains perfectly matches this massive investment profile. In partnerships formalized through Niger Foods and backed by the National Sugar Development Council (NSDC), the Lee Group has stepped in as a primary industrial driver to construct a world-class sugar plantation and mega-milling infrastructure.

Sitting directly on the River floodplains, the land provides extensive marshlands that act as natural irrigation zones, Because sugarcane is a water-intensive crop, these high-moisture river basins allow for year-round cultivation without heavy reliance on artificial pumping. The Lee Group’s operational footprint is built on its decades of experience in sugarcane processing. The site will feature a massive milling infrastructure targeted to secure local sugar supply chains and generate refined bio-ethanol as a lucrative byproduct.

To create an all-inclusive economic ecosystem, the “Sugar Revolution” master plan integrates thousands of local farmers from the local area through decentralized out-grower clusters. Local farmers will be provided with seedlings and inputs to cultivate cane on their plots, which will be off-taken directly by the Lee Group mill.
This collaborative push directly translates Farmer Governor Umaru Bago’s vision of turning Niger State’s vast, idle water channels into the industrial capital of Nigeria’s domestic sugar production.
