Niger State Government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Federal Ministry of Finance for the establishment of Sustainable Integrated Productive Communities (SIPC) as a pilot scheme in the country.
The understanding, which relates to ensuring food security, providing mass housing, and inclusive economic growth, was signed at the Federal Ministry of Finance, Abuja.

Farmer Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago applauded the initiative and said that it is a dream coming to fruition.
The farmer governor announced that the state will commit 100,000 hectares of land for the initiative and that the Certificate of Occupancy will be delivered to the Ministry in no distant future.
He noted that the seriousness of government is important to sustaining the initiative, stressing that it has a great impact on many sectors with a multiplier effect on the economy of both the state and the country; hence, his administration will provide all the necessary support for its success.
The farmer governor recounted many initiatives of his administration across various sectors to ensure a better life for the citizens.

The Minister of State for Finance, Dr Doris Uzoka-Anite, observed that the partnership is a clear demonstration of how the federal government is working hand in hand with forward-looking states like Niger State to translate national priorities into concrete actions on the ground.
She further stated that the programme further demonstrates a strategic alignment and shared commitment to inclusive economic development to provide structured, secure, and well-planned housing settlements for farmers strategically located to support agricultural production, storage, processing, and market access in stable communities with access to basic infrastructure to improve livelihoods in Niger State, considering its agricultural endowments.
The Minister also explained that the Ministry will work closely with key relevant institutions to ensure the success of the initiative.
The Managing Director of the Federal Ministry of Finance Incorporated (MOFI), Dr. Armstrong Ume Takang, also emphasised the positive impact of the initiative, especially on rural dwellers connected to farming activities.

In their separate goodwill messages, the Deputy Chairman, House Committee on Finance, Saidu Musa Abdullahi; the Executive Chairman, Niger Foods,and the Managing Directors of Family Homes Funds Ltd. and the Rural Electrification Agency reiterated their commitment and support for the success of the initiative, as they believe it will produce positive and impactful results for the good of the people and the country as a whole.
The partnership is also expected to make agriculture become more efficient, attractive, and profitable, thereby enhancing productivity, reducing post-harvest losses, improving security, and encouraging youth participation.
